about me: who i am and why i do what i do
Curator, Creator, Podcast Host
My name is Matt Schneidman. I spent eight years as a classroom teacher in the Bay Area. I’ve been in edtech for the last four years, working with schools, districts, service agencies, and state departments of ed to support strategic implementations. I am also working toward my EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR. My interests lie at the intersection of equity, pedagogy, organization science, and adult learning theory (with some computer science thrown in). As a doc student, I have sifted through thousands of pages of PK-20 scholarship and have been exposed to so much valuable knowledge that both confirms and challenges my assumptions about the world of education. I hope that I am able to combine that theoretical and conceptual knowledge with my more “practical” experience in the classroom and as an educational consultant to continue to bridge the academic-practitioner divide.
I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I now live in Portland, OR with my partner, two beautiful daughters, and an anxious Australian Kelpie. I love basketball, being outdoors with my dog and two kiddos, watching movies, and reading science fiction when I have the time.
